DIng Ding - Round 1

I want to thank all of my blog friends for their suggestions and encouragement regarding my current sucky situation with the broken foot.

I am still a little pissed and mentally under the weather . . . But for the most part I am getting back in the saddle.

I rode the bike on the trainer a couple times and today hit the pavement for about 10 miles to see if I remembered how to ride.  Good news, I think I remember!

I go to the Dr. in a week and a half to see if I can get this boot off.  I am not sure what he will say.  When I walk a few steps without boot the area with fractures feel weak and painful, but that may just be from lack of use???

I am up 22 lbs, but I stopped eating crap.  I have been working on core strength mostly doing sit ups, push ups and plank.

I a ready to run.  How funny.

Thanks again to everyone.

I know I might get thrashed for this, but I am allowed to ride, so I am signed up for a bike race this weekend.  I am going to do it, but take it super easy.

My Ironman Florida training program begins May 25.

Dont run.
Bike as much as you can.
I did IMAZ last year with no more than 6 mile runs. If you can get off the bike by 5pm you can finish by power walking.
The key is to get you to the starting line. This is done with as little impact on your body as possible.
Cheers!

Thanks for the update. I understand how you feel--I am on week 6 of no running due to plantar's fascitiis. It is depressing cuz I spent most of the winter doing an on-line training plan in preparation for my first sprint tri. It was supposed to be May 9th. I've gained some weight and hadn't swum in a couple of weeks. Then somebody pointed out to me that my foot isn't going to be hurt forever and I was being very shortsighted. So I swam some laps the other day--felt pretty good. I never quit riding my bike so that's good. I kind of fell off the healthy eating but am slowly getting that back under control. I guess my (long-winded) point is you are not alone. Stay the course and keep being the inspiration you are!

Well - I am so inspired. I want so badly to begin but see a few obstacles that I must overcome. Thanks so much for the peptalk today. I've needed that! Loved your video too! Robin

Oh yeah, one more thing. I read about your goals for 2009. I don't know how far you are from Walker, LA, but I have a friend that is in the process of a new church start. I understand your concerns about "religion", but I think you would be really interested in this church. Here is the website: http://faithcrossingumc.org/home/index.html
